MSN Entry Clinical Nurse Program, MECN

March 19, 2013

A  hard  working  woman  who  was  born  and  raised  in  India, I have now  been living  in the United  States  for the  past  ten  years. I moved to the U.S. in 2002 after marrying a U.S. citizen and have been living with my in-laws since that time. I am now the  mother  of   two  beautiful  boys,  one  is  five  and just started  kindergarten  and  the other is beginning to crawl around.  Nevertheless, we are a big, loving, Indian family and we highly respect higher education. So my entire family supports my decision to go back to school and pursue the Master´s Entry Clinical Nurse Program at XXXX.

I feel qualified for your program because I hold a B.S. Degree  in  Biological  Sciences—zoology, botany, chemistry—and  I have earned  some  course  work credit here in the US—Clinical Medical Assistant,  Phlebotomy. I chose  nursing  as  my  career  because  of  my  science  background  and  I also realize that  caring for the ill is the career track that I personally find most fulfilling, perhaps because of my compassionate nature.  I began  working  towards  my  goal  six  years  ago,  and  achieved  my  first step  by  completing  the  pre-requisite  classes. From  the  beginning, I  was  fascinated  by the pursuit of a career in  the  Nursing, especially since I had the privilege of working  in  at the Rajindra Hospital in my  home  town  of Patiala, where  I worked in the Pediatric  Department.  Due  to  the  polluted  water  in  that  particular  area,  underprivileged  children  from  ages  2 to  7  often  got  very sick and some died.  Water  born  diseases  like  typhoid,  cholera,  stomach  flu  and  vomiting  are  very  common where I grew up.  And I worked closely with the pediatricians during all phases or stages of treatment.

Now  I  feel  very  confident  that  this  is  the  right  time  for  me  to attain  higher  education  and  prepare  myself  for  future  advancements  and  challenges.  I  would  like  to  thank  you  for  considering  my  application and  hopefully  next  year  will  bring  new  hopes  and  open doors to a brighter future for us by being accepted into your program. I  want  very much to  take  my  studies  to  the  next  level  and  pursue  a  graduate career  in  nursing.  Your MECN Program is an excellent platform  upon which I could build a new professional life and a better future  for myself and my family. I very much appreciate the increased job opportunities that come with a graduate education and I am especially proud to be part of a profession that is in such great demand in today’s world. If accepted me into your program, I will bring my heart, mind, and soul, and will distinguish myself as an especially dedicated student.

XXXX´s world-renown research institute is the perfect place for me to continue to advance my studies.  After completing the MECN/prelicensure M.S.N. degree program, I intend to practice as a Pediatric Nurse, since children are the light of my life and I feel that my qualifications and greatest strengths point in this direction. I hope to devote a lifetime of study to the advanced theoretical knowledge of core concepts in this area, including the way that Pediatrics required advanced leadership in the health care delivery to clients from ethnically diverse cultural backgrounds. I especially look forward to working with an academic-oriented hospital where I could have a share in important research. I am also very interested in community based nursing and look forward to participating in these endeavors as well.
